Yoga Mat Maintenance Guide

Before you start cleaning your Yoga mat, you need to determine whether it is made of synthetic rubber or natural rubber. Cleaning a slightly soiled Yoga mat is really simple. All you need is a damp cloth or sponge and the right cleaning solution.
There are many cleaning solutions which you can use to wipe and clean the soiled area of your Yoga mat and most of them are quite affordable too. If for some reason you prefer to make your own cleaning solution, you can do so easily by combining 2 cups of water with 4 drops dishwashing soap and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Now, simply rub the soiled area with the damp cloth of sponge with mat cleansing solution and wipe it again with clean water. Rub it again with a dry cloth or towel then hang it to dry.

Cleaning a heavily soiled Yoga mat is a bit tricker though. First of all, you need to submerge your mat in a solution of warm water and some mild detergent. Next, you need to wash or rub it thoroughly so that it is not only clean from the soil but also from the soap you used. Squeeze it several times to get rid of the excess water before you hand it to dry.
